Litigation Attorney Jobs in New York

A Litigation Attorney, also known as a Trial Lawyer, represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil lawsuits. They manage all phases of the litigation process from the investigation, pleadings, and discovery through the pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal. Their job involves extensive research, drafting legal documents, negotiation, and presenting cases in court. Litigation Attorneys play a critical role in the legal industry, as they not only represent individuals in disputes but also protect the legal rights of businesses and corporations.

Important skills for a Litigation Attorney include strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills, a high degree of professionalism, and the capacity to handle large amounts of information. They should also be adaptable, as they need to devise the best strategic approach for each case. To become a Litigation Attorney, one must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and must have passed the state bar examination. Prior to becoming a Litigation Attorney, an individual may have served roles as a Legal Intern, Junior Lawyer, or a Legal Associate, where they gain exposure to various aspects of the law and legal practice.
