Legal Intern Jobs in New Jersey
A Legal Intern is an entry-level position in the legal industry where the intern gets first-hand experience of working in the field. They primarily assist attorneys, lawyers, and legal advisors with various tasks such as researching legal topics, drafting documents, compiling case files, and observing court proceedings. They may also engage in administrative tasks like organizing files, scheduling appointments, and maintaining databases. Being a Legal Intern provides a great opportunity to apply academic knowledge practically and build professional skill sets within the real work environment.
Important skills for a Legal Intern include strong research abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. They should have strong analytical skills to interpret complex information. Some certifications, like a certificate of completion from an accredited paralegal program or law school enrollment, can be beneficial. Usually, a person might work as a Paralegal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Legal Research Assistant before becoming a Legal Intern.
